Hi all,

I have a 13 week old Ridgeback x border collie (looks more ridgeback). I am keen to teach her recall to whistle. The acme whistles have been recommended. I have had a look and they come in different pitches. I just wondered if anyone had any advice as to what frequency is best and if it is breed dependent or is it just personal preference?

Many Thanks

We bought ours from Pets at Home, Im not sure of the make but they sold a silent one and the one I bought which isnt silent. I got it as a Police dog handler reccomended it. It definately works for my dog.

I use the 211.5 too but each dog recognises its owners unique whistle anyway so I can't think it will really matter which one you choose as long as you stick to the same one

I was recommended to use 210.5 for my bright springers but my daughter was also recommended (by another doggy person) to use that pitch for her laid back Golden Retriever. However, I will say that it certainly appears to work and attracts their attention even when they're quite a way off. Works for the incredibly dopey Munsterlander, too! My friend was recommended to use 211.5 for her boxer and lab, but she seems to be impressed with the recall of my 210.5! Think it's more trial and error!
