What will I dress Fred in tomorrow??

Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a pickle about what to do with Fred in the morning. We have quite a long drive (3 hours) to the vet school and then three hours back and I just wondered what bandages/rug to put him in??
It's supposed to be pretty warm tomorrow and last time I took Fred to the vets it was March and pretty cold so I put him in his thermatex rug and leg wraps and when we stopped to check on him he was a sweaty mess so he went the rest of the journey naked and was fine.
Do you think it would be okay if I just put some light bandages on him with no rug or will everyone at the other end of the journey think i'm an arsehole??

Thats what I would do anyway, you can always take the rug with you but you probably won't need it.

Hi Jenny!!

I think you are right...I get a little worried when I see neighbouring horses getting out of horse boxes with full travelling gear on and Fred with his tatty old headcollar and leadrope ensemble haha...
Fred is fine in himself but we still haven't got to the bottom of the problem so fingers crossed tomorrow we may have an answer. My vet seems to think that if the vet school in Glasgow can't crack it then no one can

Hows things going in Somerset?? Is there really a lot of combine harvesters, tractors etc

Are you closer to Emma, Jenna etc where you are now?? Another long one from moi haha

Bandages and either no rug or a wicking, moisture asorbing, sweat sheet type. I always take a rug just in case. : )

Harms just been to the vets ( back last saturday ) and down in york/lincs area it was incredibly hot ( nearly 30 ) she had no rug on and some travel boots and still sweated up!

I've just come back from vets today, had around an 1 1/2 hr trip each way, my big girl was fairly sweaty as it's been warm here today, she was naked with travel boots & tail thingy.

Thankyou everyone!! I think it is forecast to be warm again tomorrow so will scrap the rug idea and just bandage him (he doesn't like travel boots). Now all I need is to pray the vets tell me I can start riding him again yippee
