What will everyone be feeding this winter, im just looking into it now not too sure what to feed.

Last yr I had my sec a who had a handful of happy hoof with benivit in it.

this yr i have my sec a plus a sec d yearling and a 15.2hh coloured cob

so not sure what to feed what feed and suppliments do you give. thanks

Arion is a 16'2 WB who is not a good doer and loses weight quickly (gains it just as fast though) - I have him on a feed of AlphaA, conditioning cubes and sugar beet - he gets Superflex in his feed too :)

Mine have Top Chop Lite and Top Spec Anti Lam balancer all year round then in winter I add some Speedibeet. They have lots of foggage to graze on and hay as well.

Mines a 15.1 TB x Cob and is a good doer. t has taken me 6 months to get the weight off her and she is only 20KG over her ideal so I have been careful with what I feed her. Her grazing is restricted at the moment and she get 3 quarters scoop happy hoof, benevit advance (great deals on feedmark supps at moment by the way!) EA calmer and garlic. I will be gradually increasing her feed over the next few months to a scoop of happy hoof, above supps and quarter scoop speedibeet plus 2 handfuls maintenance nuts in a snack ball once she comes in plus 6-8kg hay depending on how long she is in the stable.

If she starts losing weight too much i will up the speedibeet but that would be a miracle!

HRH - 16hh bog pony - hunting fit - hunter clip - lives out 24/7 365

currently on handfull of chaff and 1/3 scopp fast fibre to hide joint supp in - twice a day

just about to buy A&P power and performance to add to feed - 1/4 scoop twice a day - this will increase to half a scoop twice a day as and when she needs

if she needs more after that she will get upto half a scoop twice a day of conditioning cubes (baileys No4)

she's never needed more than that even in the coldest weather last year

ETA - as i increase the hard feed i'll decrease the fast fibre so she's not having too mauch feed - the fast fibre is only to hold joint supp - i don't feed it for calorific value

Mine is a very good doer but lacks energy (mainly in summer). .

I feed him Balieys Lo Cal, Baileys comp mix (which I increase and decrease as his work load) and Alfa A lite.

My mare is also a good doer and is on Cool Mix and Alfa A lite.

At the moment mine is getting one feed a day but this will be doubled in the winter:
1 scoop Alfa-A oil
0.5 scoops Fast Fibre
0.5 scoops pony nuts

the ginger one will be on alfa a and spillers light
the brown one will be on hifi senior, fast fibre and spillers senior balancer. possible topspec flakes or falcon biocare if needs be

both will have ad lib haylage with ad lib hay in the field

My two boys get the same thing all year round (1/2 scoop of chaff and two cups of Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer.) They are both good doers and do very well being fed on this. They also have enough energy for what they do so they don't need to be fed anything else.

Our veteran Welsh Mountain pony will be fed her usual 1/2 scoop of mollichaff and one cup of Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer and possibly half a scoop of pony cubes to help her to maintain her condition.

Old boy has veteran mix, equijewel and chaff and the 2 babies have level grow mix and chaff. They all have benevit added in. May add some sugarbeet in the winter to all their feeds - I feed it warm and they seem to love it on a really cold day

My 15.1hh TB is on:
Breakfast - 2.5 scoops of Alfa A Oil and 500g Alfa Beet
Supper - same as above plus Total Eclipse suppliment.

She is on full turnout and has ad lib haylage in her field.

Ron is 16.2 IDx 16yo who hunts twice a week, Tom is 16h Welsh x hannoverian 16yo basically roughed off but strolls out with us on a sunday.

They both get ad lib haylage

they both get a tub trug full of soaked speedibeet each night, which they pick at all night and eat 75-90% of.

They then both get alfa oil, full fat soya, baileys stud balancer and Ron gets a handful of oats.

Tom gets devils relief for his stiffness. Towards the end of winter Ron usually gets a course of Naf Blood Liquid or Naf EnerG as he gets a bit run down with all the hunting. He also gets electrolytes before and after hunting - usually use the baileys one, but will pick up a different one this time I think just for a change.

ETA Ron is clipped out for hunting, Tom has a neck and belly clip as he gets scabby elbows. They are both out at least 12 hours a day come what may as Tom hates being in and Ron doesn't care as long as he's got something to eat!

As little as possible!

I have an IDxTB who is a VERY good doer so he'll be getting HiFi and High Fibre nuts, possibly with some Speedibeet if I feel he needs something more. Supplement wise he gets magnesium oxide, JointFX and electrolytes when required.

Jamin who lives out 24/7 currently gets 1 feed per day of:

300g Alfa A
1kg Spillers Slow Response Cubes

In the winter she will get (split into 2 feeds):

1.2kg Alfa A Oil
2kg Spillers Slow Response Cubes
Ad lib hay

I will also add Pink Powder to help her get the most from her feed and Premierflex Plus for her stiffness.

mine get the same all year round, just different amounts.

jay is on srn hifi, srn mix, alpha beet, BOSS, joint supplement, cod liver oil, vi/min supplement, mobility lick, veg/fruit.

fizz gets safe and sound, alpha beet, vit/min supplement, respiratory lick, veg/fruit

Toffee and Samba are both on Hi Fi Lite and some Hickstead Meadow Mix, will get some Speedi beet once the grass has gone probably. Toffee gets Premier Flex for her arthritus. Samba has just started sarc-ex

Have ad lib Barley Straw and a haynet in the evening (again once grass goes)

Toffee has always done very well on this so playing it by ear for Samba.
Both are just happy hackers during the winter.

Oberon will be on

2 scoop of alfa oil, 1 top spec conditioning, 1 sugar beet
Twice a day

And as much haylage as he can eat,
He is three and his bum is quite high, withers are at 17.1hh now so want himto even out a bit for next year

I'm a great believer in that if they don't do much then they don't need much!

All my youngsters get just grass and hay

My NF mare, who is just driven a few times a week is just on 24/7 grass but will have a handful of Hi-Fi with Benevit in the winter as will be in a lot.

Welsh D and Cob (both in medium/hard work) get twice daily:

1/2 scoop of Alfa A Oil
1/4 scoop of D&H Competition Concentrate
1/2 scoop of Oats
1 mug of Cooked Linseed

Suppleaze Gold
Garlic
Equistro Secreta Pro
Electrolytes
Vit E and Selenium

Both are in 24/7 in winter with ad lib hay :)

Last winter I fed Bella on Mollichaff Original and Pegasus mix as well as adlib hay and she did very well on this. This winter I am looking to change her feed to an all-in-one but have to make sure feed is suitable for a yearling as well as a 2 year old.

Does anyone feed youngstock mix and at what age would you stop feeding it?

Both horses live out 24/7/365 if that makes any difference

Suggestions please?
