And what will you miss least?

I will miss the long daylight hours, the dark evenings are just so inconvienient, I struggle to get everything done in time.

I will miss least the flies.

I'll miss 24/7 turnout most. I hate having to stable my horses overnight in winter, but the yard won't allow 24/7 turnout in winter.

There's nothing I'll miss least.....

Havent had much of a summer up here, so not much to miss!! I shall miss all my pet flies, they have thrived so well in this muggy rainy summer, will be sorry to see them go, not. I miss the swallows in my barn and I miss riding at 8.30pm and having a quick glass of wine with my friends who are sitting in their gardens on my way home while my horse has a pick of grass. BUT my Rayburn is lit and I have a supply of logs for my fire and I shall enjoy being cosy!

It's the warmth for me too, plus not having to worry about driving to the farm. How on earth will my Smartcar cope if we have snow again?

However, the flies have been such a huge problem for my fly-allergic head-shaking Mollie, I'm glad to see the back of them.

Early morning hacks when everyone else is abed - love riding with jacket 'just off' so 6am on a summer morning is just right temp for me :)

Won't miss hot sweltering afternoons & the flies tho......

NOt looking forwards to muddy legs, muddy gritty tack, long skid marks & cut up paddocks (from warm-up-hoolies)

I will miss our outdoor school. It looks like a swimming pool today and will prob look like an ice rink before long :(

I will not miss chasing a 17.2 TB around with a fly spray bottle that he is convinced is trying to kill him

The swallows, swifts and housemartins. The swallows keep lining up on the fences this week; about 50 of them, then they suddenly launch into the air en masse. They're practising leaving, and it makes me sad.:(

Sorry - have we HAD a summer????!!!

This was going to be my reply, too. OK, we've had long daylight hours, but I have not worn my shorts ONCE this year!!

Which brings me to my answer. It's the daylight. I get horribly depressed by January. Before then I count down the days to the shortest day, get excited for a few days and then get depressed as the days take forever to lengthen again!

I will miss the long daylight hours. I love getting up at 6 and taking the dog where I do, won't be able to soon and also like spending hours down the yard after work, won't be doing that soon either but I'll be able to catch up with the soaps.
Won't miss the flys, they've been a right pain.

Will miss the long days & not miss the flies or having to control ponies hayfever or easily burnt pink nose!!

Does anyone else prefer winter??I love the winter & those cold crisp mornings just hate having early dark nights :( I would much rather be too cold than too hot! Love piling on loads of layers & a big thick scarf!

Like most people, I will miss the long hours of daylight. Not looking forward to starting my day in pitch dark..

I won't miss the bloody mosquitoes though! They torture me and the bites take weeks to heal.

I am kind of looking forward to being all cosy and warm inside though when the weather is crap.. in a weird way I kind of like going to the yard in awful weather, cos I get to wrap up all warm. Maybe it's just me though. Not looking forward to more rain..

Oh and being able to tie up outside without freezing/getting wet/everything blowing away.

But I'm looking forward to testing out the heated seats in OH's new car! Also looking forward to the horse actually wanting to come in rather than having selective deafness....
