Hi , my horse is the same size as yours, and high withered . This winter he was wearing a Weatherbeeta Orican combo Freestyle. It has the built in neck and is medium weight. It fits him well and is showing no signs of wear and tear even though his favourite occupation is rolling .Hope this helps.
Love my Weatherbeetas. My high withered TB x wore a WB Arion Combo all winter, its in its 4th winter now and only just beginning to look a little old, but has never leaked or slipped and not rubbed his wither at all. Autumn and early Spring time he's in a standard neck WB Orican (which is what one of my clipped natives is in all winter), again an excellent rug. Im not quite sure what the difference is between the Arion and Orican rugs - they both seem the same, so I guess you could go for the Orican since its slightly cheaper.
Ive also been impressed with the Amigo's. Have their summer turnout rugs which have been brilliant so am thinking of buying a winter one.
Thanks for that all of you
I am also impressed with the Amigos (I have both heavy & medium ) for my other horses which are more solidly built!
I will take a look at the other ones you have suggested
Thanks
Love Weatherbeetas, they seem to fit fantasticly! Also i have been really impressed with the Shires rugs, they are brilliant! Also both reasonably priced!
I have a TB and TBx and both have Weatherbeetas in heavy, medium and lightweights! I also have a Fal which I like (but was v expensive) and a Bucas which is ok. Had a Rhino but it rubbed my mare's mane out. Overall the Weatherbeetas are the best fit and value for money on my two!
The best rug I have for my mw welsh x is a shires winter typhoon. His other rugs are Masta SRT which is excellent unless its windy as it balloons out, a 450g Premier Equine which he's not worn as been too mild but it was a replacement for an older PE rug which was very good. I bought him a medium weight weatherbeeta landa high but find it a bit too tight across his shoulders but big everywhere else! so he's not worn it much and a lightweight Masta Zing which is proving a good buy. My vote would be for Shires for overall value, fit and quality.
