5yo mare recently backed and starting her competitive career
she will be doing work of some sort 5-7 days a week(30-40mins schooling, hours hack or 30min private lesson) and hopefully competing fairly soon.

good doer(on grass and hay at moment and in good condition)
lively but not silly ride.

was thinking about feeding her
a low cal chaff like hifi or safe n sound
and a balancer like blue chip, topspec or low cal
and stepping up to alfa a oil if she drops weight.

my other two horses(2yo WB and 18yo laminitic semi retired mare) are on
alfa a oil plus some hifi(to bulk it up more without adding more calories)now its summer im cutting out the alfa a oil.
topspec comprehenshive.
would be good if they are fed on mostly or all the same things as got limited space in feed room!

Peresonaly I wouldn't feed to much hard feed unless she is losing condition.

Mine is worked 7 days a week and is having hay twice a day, gout at grass for 8 hours aday and has a small feed of cool mix and beetpulp, with garlic, black salt and soya oil.

If the grass starts growing a lot I will cut out ome of the feed.

He looks really well and is in good condition.

WHY NOT JUST USE (sorry caps!!) hifi so she thinks she's getting something with the topspec comprehensive??? keep things nice and simple, and if she does drop off or need more energy just move up to the alfa a oil.

thats what i was thinking

safe and sound gets my vote, my pony is a good doer and is does great on it no matter what sort of work he's in, he done nothing for couple of months and was fine on it and is now hacking or schooling or jumping almost every day. i dont add a balancer or anything to it as its a complete feed in itself!
