Following conversation with a friend who looks like she has got to sell her horse I got to thinking how i would describe my horse to a buyer/advert

"Genuinely nice person and allrounder 16.3 chunky TB gelding 10 years old. Calm, sensbile, none TB personality. Great to hack alone or in company, fine with all traffic. Is regularly placed SJ and hunter trials/XC, not a world beater but safe sensible horse to have fun with and come home with a rosette. Has also competed and been placed dressage. Good to shoe, box, catch and clip. Done all riding club activities, local shows and pleasure rides."

BUT

Needs huge amounts of grass/hay and hard feed to keep his weight right, would keep a small country going. Typical TB feet. Cant hunt as sends him over the edge. Confirmation leaves a lot to be desired but doesnt cause any problems in health or performance :D

How would you describe your horse(s)?

'Will make all your wishes come true. A nicer and more talented individual you would be hard pressed to meet. BUT S**** for England. If you buy this horse you will also need to buy a big wheelbarrow.'

I would describe my horse as follows.

16.1 5yo TBxBWB going well on the flat and over fences, fit and ready to go. Is good to shoe, clip and will load. Will hack alone and in company. Has begun showjumping and has hunted with MSFD on small days, seen and travelled with hounds. Not a novice ride and can be spooky and quirky but will give everything a go with the right person. Would suit a very competant amateur or professional. Conformationally correct and has fantastic movement and athleticism with scope to burn.

I've never thought of this before and doubt I'm very good at writing adverts....

15.2hh Black British Warmblood gelding, 3 years old, 4 next June. Gorgeous, flashy boy but with a sensitive nature. Thrives from a one to one bond. Very loving and gentle. Was broken summer 10' and been turned away for winter. Was a very willing and quick learner. Fantastic paces. Has been lunged over 3ft + jumps proving to be bold. Future dressage or jumping star!

Downside....flilthy in the stable. Needs wrapping up well when it's cold as he is a wimp!!

I would never sell my boy, he's worth more than double his weight in gold.
Advert would probably say though:

"Best horse in the World. 16.1hh+ (still growing) Rose Grey Irish Sports Horse 4yo Gelding.
Fantastic personality and attitude for work. Amazing willing jump and works beautifully on flat. Virtually bombproof on the roads and in fields and is never silly.
A real sweet, affectionate horse who gets along with any horse or human. Always willing to play with other youngsters and is never rude or bargy.
Extremely clean in the stable and has impeccable manners.
Good to clip, shoe, load, travel etc., nothing fazes this chap!
Huge performance horse potential due to attitude and talent, could excel in all 3 disciplines, especially Eventing. Broken in middle of 2010.
£100,000,000,000 ono hehehe
