I apologise for another feed thread, as I've noticed a lot of them atm, but I need to ask a question.

My horse is a normally poor doer TB, but this winter he has came out blooming, and IMO he is looking fantastic considering what he looked like last summer. This was helped a lot by moving to a new field in August last year with fantastic quality grass.

He is currently out 24/7 on good grass, gets 3 large haynets a night in his shelter (shares with another horse) and is fed once a day on 1 scoop Alfa A Oil, 1 scoop TopSpec Conditioning Flakes and 2 small scoops of Sugarbeet. He also gets some supplements in there too.

Now to the question.. What would be the best feed to give him in the summer so he can get his supplements? Chaff or anything else? When the grass grows in, that will definitely be enough to keep him at a nice weight, so I don't want to feed him anything that will make him gain weight  It's not really an option to take him off the supplements as he needs them, so I want to find out my best options for feeding.

Thank you to anyone who can help! :)

I'd feed a handful or two of damp hi fi or similar for his supplements - with a small amount of unmollassed sugar beet if he needs it to be more palatable. Alternatively you could use fast fibre or somthing as a palatabe "wet chaff" type feed, I would think?

Love the signature!

Ahh yeah, I forgot about FF.. That's a good idea! Aww thanks :D Robyn (she is on here, but I don't know her username.. :o) made it for me, I love it!

Are the supplements powder or liquid?

Powder :)

I like to try and keep them on a similar base feed all year this can help prevent problems arising when changing, so I would keep him on a smaller quantity of alpha a with a reduced amount of sugar beet. It is then easy to just up it when and if needed in the autumn/winter.
