If you were asked for of the capabilities of a horse with this much substance?

summer.jpg
- ps, slightly chubby, as summer!

I mean, if someone was looking to have a jumping horse, do you think they would choose this? I get some dreadful looks amongst the TBs etc at competitions (up to 1.10 classes as unaff). I know there is a lot of stigma about heavier horses. the one in question is 15.3 and i am basically looking to see what type of market to aim her at. (For Loan purposes, couldent sell the b^gger if i tried!!) she has a mean jump on her, and does so for fun. definately want HONEST opinions here!

She's gorgeoussssssssssssssssss

Not clued up on competitions etc, so just say she's lovely again

Only thing I can say is that I've seen horses a lot heavier than that jumping in the international arena at Hickstead. Look at Cloudy Night or Winston Bridget (Stockdale's rides)

Just from looking I think it looks like a nice sort. Should be a nice riding club horse, for a young adult, or indeed a not so young adult!! I'm sure you could get some/a fair amount of weight off her and she looks really nice.
Sorry a bit of a wishy washy opinion but i'd like to have something like that

She has a kind looking face and looks quite sweet/genuine.

If she jumps 1.10 she jumps 1.10, she is a showjumper! Who cares what people think, if she jumps and is in the rosettes, why worry.

She looks lovely. If she is good at SJ and enjoys it, place her as a showjumper.

I am presuming you will loan to someone who will do unaff events?

I am not 100% sure what you are asking. But I think she is absolutly beautiful! she might be chunky, but she appears to have nice conformation and I have seen much heavier sorts than that, do some very special things! If I (competing at a similar sort of level as you have described) was looking for a jumping horse, she is exactlly what Id look for purely because they tend to be a little less hot than the warm/hotblood sorts! So market - PC/teenagers ride?

I think she looks a great all rounder, and by that I mean capable of a decent dressage test, well able to jump a course of say 3'3, pop her way round a XC course and take you hunting. Her limitations? Without knowing anything about her... maybe she wouldn't have the paces to do well at higher level dressage, and would struggle with the time BE eventing PN..... shes your horse - is this a fair assessment?

Thanks guys, she would Aff, and is an absolute Demon XC. will do a half decent dressage test aswell. i am doing some PN on a ticket this year. I dont really mind what people wanted to do with her as long as she gets to jump at some point, i dont feel that she would be stimulated enough just doing flatwork. She is a saint to hack too.

Law - heres a more slimline (and hairy) pic of her -

-sporting gofaster stripes! these were taken about 3 months ago.

Hey ISZ thanks for your input - you arent far off! she in fact is Very fast, would easily handle PN pace, but would be a bit pushed to meet the time N - however has the jump and bravery for it. Dressage - you are on the money, she will do a nice test - but has taken a LOT of work to get to this stage! XC, Teamchase, Hunt your heart out on her, she will take on anything you point her towards (my highest jump on her being 4'7" - before i had done any work on her flatwork). TBH the main thing from my point of view would be for her to go to someone who will love her for who she is, as she is a lovely person and very easy to do with it.

She looks lovely, if she's got a temperament to match you'll have no trouble finding someone for her. She jumps a reasonable height, infact higher than some riders are confident to do. As someone has said she could be a nice riding club horse & will probably do lots of different things. With her jump she could do working hunter, she's stocky enough to carry the slightly heavier person easily aswell.

Don't worry about looks you get from people with TB types, they're probably looking at her with jealous eyes!

Law - i dont actually! She is a heinz 57. all i know was that shw was imported from ireland as a 4YO and i very much suspect that there is some ID and connemara (sorry, sp!) in there, she is passported as an ID cross.

She is fantastic! Emily was 1/2 Shire 1/2 Hanno and jumped 1-30m tracks with me and she was over 18hh and was DEFFO substantial (I had to clip her feathers off!!)

Fact is, if the horse jumps, the horse jumps and I think she is super

Aw, thanks guys. Damn stupid Uni! i wish o could just keep her with me, but that is definately a no-go! I will definately keep you posted! And you are right, she is just a right laugh to have, i can play gymkhanas with the kiddies, as she is like a pony! she also has that extra '5th leg' that comes out of nowhere when you need it most - I could never sell her, Loaning will be hard enough!

Cheers Weezy. trouble is, i have had my fair share of defam comments against her whilst out a shows. which didnt bother me until i come to finding someone else for her, as it makes me wonder whether there is a market for her!

I used to get laughed at - get told Em was a "mans horse" because she was so big, etc, etc, etc - I just smiled inwardly and got on with whooping their arses

Seriously, her make-up shouldnt put anyone off (as in the way she is made, not the mascara LOL)

I am 5ft11 there and there is a step down into the stable hehe!!!

Thanks Kudu, i have had quite a few snide comments in warmup rings in the past!
Weezy - her head is about the same size as you! she looks gorgeous
grin.gif
dont worry, ass wooping is something we manage to get round to once in a while!! She just has boundless enthusiasm, which makes it all such a laugh!

As long as it jumps who cares if it has 3 legs, 6 eyes or 10 ears? lol.
People who are anyone dont care anymore, we have a grade A that looks like a cut and shut but she has over £37,500 winnings. People look at her and whisper, but i doubt all there horses put together would add up to her amount of winnings lol

I would say a very keen Riding Club participant, who is capable but there life does not revolve around competitions. Or someone just starting out but who is skilled and brave?

Beau was out on loan to a mad girl who had only been riding 2 years, but was more than capable and also semi suicidal I think!

So there is defiantely someone out there for her! I personalyl think she is gorg, and I dont think he looks as heavy as you might think she is, but then up here ive seen some big boned beasties jumping, adn a lot less skinny TB types.

Hi,

I haven't read the whole post but she is lovely. she is a similar stamp to my mum's horse and he kicks ass at everything!! He even managed to win an open team chase and pass a TB cos it was tired out at the end.

no one can judge a horse on their looks, and cetainly not their chunkyness! I know a lot more c**p TB's than ones like her! x

when i did PN on my mum's horse of a similar type, the dressage judeges loved him!! He was in the top 10 every time anyway which is good for me!!

I think they liked to see something different to the usual TB eventer type!

My initial reaction was "What a kind looking horse!" Second reaction - after having read your post(!) was "Oooh is she up for loan?" She's just what I'd like; looks verykind and capable, seems to enjoy her work and I'd not look too out of place on top. Third reaction - don't let the bu99ers grind you down! Our boys do not look like winning machines but they have performed very well and most of all we go out and ENJOY what we are all doing.

Oh wow - was my initial reaction - she looks like a fabulous horse - in fact exactly what I was looking for when I went horse shopping last year (cover your ears Sid!) she looks like she'd 'mind you' if you know what I mean (not that you should assume anything from looking at a horse) but I would say you'll have people queueing up to take her on loan
