What would cause a horse to stand like this? (Vintage photo)

It looks like a saddlebred type who’s not been taught to park out correctly (the fores should be square and straight) or who’s got pain in its front feet which is preventing it from parking out correctly.

Wow I never would have guessed someone would want a horse to stand like that on purpose! Between this and Tennessee walkers I have to wonder why Americans seem to like such exaggerated unnatural looks?

Training to do so. Saddlebreds, walking horses and Morgans in the US are shown in hand like that, for some reason

That is not a correct 'park', that poor horse is very, very over parked, all is explained and illustrated here for anyone interested enough.
