My mare has had these marks/ sores for a couple of months. They seem raw but never red or inflammes. Initially thought she done it on wire but that can't be now. My only thoughts are
1- branches from tree in field
2- from grooming other horses (one she has access too is in a boett other two are naked still)
3- slightly snoory nose and windburn? We have had a cough go round.

Pictures hard to get as she wants to eat my phone. Shes on full turn out.

I would have thought buttercups would not be doing it this late but could be wrong. Do you have other things like brambles or black thorn anywhere, or fencing like nails sticking out, Other than sun burn which I doubt judging on picture - have you walked round the field to see if you can see anything out of the ordinary.

Have you got clover in the field as this can cause symptoms like this or the clover making the skin on the nose very sensitive that it drys and cracks and blisters form that has burst. Forgot to ask is your horse living out as it could be down to the dew causing these sores, I used to look after a black and white pony at training yard which often got blisters due to living out and the dew.

One livery here has to have his nose carefully protected or he gets blisters.

It's like she's sticking her nose through something like pig netting. If it's an injury and it's not healing it'll be from something she's doing habitually and catching the injury over and over. Put sudocrem on it then going round everywhere and see where the sudocrem ended up.

Mine had this a few weeks ago. Had a slightly snotty nose. Put some sudocrem on it and it cleared up
