whilst we are going through this credit crunch, what would be the things that you would stop doing or having done to your horse ?
would you still always get the teeth, back and saddle checked on a regular basis or would you wait until there was a problem or think oh they are ok il do it next year ?

Well, you know me L I'm a stickler for these things.

As a result though I now wander around my house turning things off and eating cold dinners

Always fed ours on it but cannot say I have noticed any difference. Feed a powdered one now but cannot remember its name. Much cheaper though. I remember its Equivite.

No new rugs, no coarse mix only barley rings and hi-fi (her feed looks dull but so does my dinner these days!) no more superflex her joint will have to look after themselves, no mints, no more shoes (well I had planned to take her barefoot anyway but the farrier costs have dropped by about 70% now!) no more silly grooming product that make her coat shine or her tail easy to brush, I'm back to good old mr dandy brush and mr mane comb...erm...can't think of anything else I've cut back on...

did you know that a can of pledge dusting polish works just the same as mane and tail spray?
much cheaper!

I didn't know that! I need some more too, thanks!

I'v had my horse about 5 months and buying new things for him is taking longer than expected. Was hoping to be able to buy everything new but having to make do with previous horses stuff and just new saddle and rugs.

''Credit Crunch'' as such not affecting us yet, as we are nowhere near the 15% mortgage rates of the early 1990's.
Or the roaring inflation of the 70's.

Rise in cost of fuel, food ( human and horse) and utilties unavoidable, so cutting down on any waste - nothing left on standby, low energy bulbs, choose A-rated appliances.
Would cut down on entertainment, meals and drinks out, home improvements/repairs, etc before cutting down on horse keeping costs.
