Hi all , my lovely horse is away at school at the min , he lives out 24/7 as trainer thinks this is best for a young horse which is great horse is happy I'm happy, BUT big BUT I have just been told we getting snow soon and I want him home so I can tuck him up in bed of a night time ! Am I being silly a mummy should he stay or come home with his mummy ? xx

Contrary to some peoples thoughts, horses do NOT melt in the snow... :P tehehe.
If he is warm and has ad lib food he will be fine out. In fact, he might like it. My horse LOVES the snow, he likes to slide down hills. He thinks its fun. I do NOT think its fun...
But honestly, unless there is a reason why he shouldn't be out in snow, leave him out.

Probaly best to leave him where he is. I would vist if possible and make sure he is ok, should be doing that anyway.

Horses are far more resilient than we think and as a youngster is probaly better out than in as long as fed lots of hay/haylage.

No you are not a silly mummy, just want the best for your horse.

Lol, he was out in it last year but only in the day time , yeah she puts big bales of hay out for them! I'm being silly ;)

OMG don't you know horses should be in the house in front of the fire curled up with the cat and the dog eating mince pies and horseradish (not together, that would be gross)... whyever would you leave it in a field??????

I would if I could :) x

Yes you are being very silly - I really hope you don't actually believe you are your horse's mummy?

lol I'm sure he'll be fine - but I would think that - all mine, including the yearling will be out in it regardless :D

Im sure he'll be fine, and im sure he has some nice cosy rugs. Mine lived out during last winter and the snowed stayed for about 3 weeks, everytime i checked him, he was toasty! Hope it works out well
