I am thinking of starting to advertise myself as a freelance rider.

Background about me. I have my AI, Stage 4 HK&C, doing riding this year, 25 years riding experience, I event, dressage, SJ (last season I was placed at every BE and BD I did). I am a quiet, correct rider and work well with horses that are a bit complicated. Am fairly well known in my area.

I'm thinking of offering a schooling service (either as one offs or long term agreements), youngster training, possibility of competing other peoples horses etc etc.

I would be travelling to the clients premises, so need to factor in travel. I have the relevant insurances in place, so need to cover that as well.

So guess I'm asking what would you charge or pay for someone like this?

There's a guy round our area who will school difficult horses/event people's horses/give lessons or just exercise and he charges £20 for half an hour inc travel.

I have a military instructor who is the biz. he charges £45 to come to you and £35 when you take your horse to him. This is for 45 mins. he rides and competes your horse as well if required.

Hi, There are a couple of people in my area which do the same they do not have the qualifications but have experience in competing, breaking in and schooling young horses. They charge around £20-£30 a horse for around 30 mins but depends on how well the horse is going (would not charge any different if they needed less or more time) and the same to compete.
Hope this helps.
