Hi,
Looking for some advice and feeling a bit down with deciding. I have 2 young horses a 4year old and a 5 year old.
4 Year old is a lovely leg in 4 corners coulored cob mare, she is so genuine, easy going and will do everthing and always trys her heart out, she is 100% in traffic.
THEN!
There is my 16.2hh 5 year old homebred TrakehnerxTB mare, she is excellent in traffic, an amazing big moving horse and coming on nicely in dressage, she can be willful, but is honest and will do anything loving to work.
My predicument is I dont have the time for both and beat myself up over not having the time for both so would rather ride none, than one feel left out (silly I know!!).
I would love to do dressage, so obviously the 5 year old is the better option, but doubt I will get lots of time to compete, so then think I should stick to my total fun easy going coblet.
My idea is to advertise both for £3500 and see which sells first, has anyone else done this? My worry with this is they both have interest then I still have to make a decision.
Pointless post just wondered if anyone else had been or is in the same situation.

I know how your feeling, as I was in the same boat not long ago. I dont have time to ride both at the moment (pregnant and work full time!) So I advertised for someone to come and ride. You could also advertise for a sharer? OR, what I did before I had any help, was to just ride them on alternate days. That worked well.
I could never part with either of mine, so there is always options.

sorry to hear of your predicament. My second horse is a yearling so I don't have the issues you have yet.

Can you alternate riding them on different days or hack both together at all, so both are getting some work and you can spend time with both?

If you feel equally strongly about both and really can't keep two I think your way is best - see which one finds a new home first.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice.
Have advertised for a sharer before, but where we live you cant pay people to come and ride your horses as everyone seems to have there own, we have our own land so never ask for expenses maybe just £20 everyother month towards shoes, for that there would be unlimited riding!
My worst part is I also haev 2 older mares as well as the babies so tend to lead them when riding so they get out and see the world,4 times a week.
Have had terrible experiance with loans in the past, one horse came back in an awful state, so never again.
Just feel trapped and far to streched as feel a bond with both.

I'm in a similar position with my two.

One stunning welsh cob X with loads of potential but a bit silly and sensitive. One unbelivably easy cob who is no hassle at all but not got anywhere near the scope. And is significantly smaller.

Cob is currently unbroken (only 3) but next year I won't have time, energy or money to dedicate to two horses so I need to choose too. :(

It's so hard, and I know which ever one goes I will regret, but as they say you cant live on regrets. Cant keep two.
The both have scope and potential just in 2 completely different things. My dependable cob is wonderful, but my fancier one is just that.
Hard times, grrr why did I ever buy another one :(:(

What a shame you can't find a sharer. If I lived near you I'd be biting your hand off to share your cob :o

I'm sure it's an obvious question, but have you tried all the free websites / local feed merchant / tack shops / riding clubs etc? Just hate to think there's someone like me out there looking but doesn't know about the great opportunity that lies with you :o
