Thankfully I've always been lucky with ebay but I just brought a show jacket described as new from a seller but when it arrived it was missing a button. It also had no tags but then again it didn't specifically say it had them only tht it was new. They are not listed as a business seller though on the item discription they mention otehr sizes are available and they have sold this item before. Would this make a difference?

I said I would pay return postage costs to them but they have said they will send a button. I don't really want to have to mend a supposidly new item though. I hate issues like this, does one go through ebay resolution?

Any opinions gratefully recieved.
 
Is the jacket in a very good condition apart from missing the button? Have you tried it on and is it a good fit?

If it was then I would just stitch another button on to be honest. It takes a couple of minutes to do and is a lot less hassle than returning it

If the jacket is new but only has a button missing is it really worth all the hassle of sending it back, incurring postal charges, all for the want of sewing on a button which they will post to you & take a couple of minutes?

You mention 'mend'?......sewing on a button isn't mending in my view. The majority of new jackets really need all buttons removing & sewing on properly by hand because machine sewn buttons rarely stay on long.
 
It took me weeks and weeks to resolve an issue on e-bay, so unless you are really unhappy with the jacket, i would just sew the button on.

i'd be happy with the seller sending on the button. i'd say in feedback that 'jacket arrived with no button but seller sent a new one through'. then perhaps it will gee up seller to check their stock before it goes out.
i've just had to send back a new pair of Levis (for my oh) as they turned up with a bleach mark on the front, you couldn't miss it! can't believe they were sent out like that, makes you wonder if the seller is just trying to get away with selling shoddy goods
