I have been asked by the local Riding Club to represent them at the area trials, doing Medium 61. I was originally down for Elementary 45, but someone else now wants to do that and they've asked me to step up. Whilst I know Ben can do the moves, and that I can ride them, the problem is I am so rusty at sitting trot (not competed for about a year!) and the test involves extended trot (bounce bounce bounce). So, I really can't decide whether to just ride for the next month without stirrups in the hope I find my seat again (competition on the 16th May) or whether I should just say I'm not comfortable with doing it... In a way I want to do it, I want to push myself, and this could be the pressure I need! On the other hand, I don't want to make a prat out of myself/my horse.

the medium would just be an individual test though?

whereas the elem would be part of the open team (3 novice tests and elem)

there is nothing to stop you both doing an elem test though one will have to be nominated as part of team the other as an individual only.

Can you have lunge lessons without stirrups? At the end of the day, if you fancy going for it do, if not, say no. Maybe its the push you need to step up a level? I know I'm a whimp unless pushed:)

Double check - but I think BD rules state (and I think this applies at medium level as well) that you do the test in sitting trot, but you can do rising for medium. I may be wrong, this may be at elementary (which you can now do at either sitting or rising) but worth double checking. Would still do some work without stirrups though - doing that 3 times a week for a couple of weeks will make the world of difference. Good luck!

Now that's interesting. Originally I was down on the team to do Elementary, then this other person said that they wanted to do it, and I was asked to do medium, which I assumed was still as part of the team (don't really pay attention to how RC competitions are run etc). I have been told I can do the ele as an individual. I will double check, as if medium is not as part of the team, I don't see much point in going all that way just to do it as an individual.

individual qualifier too I think.

numbers to qualify depend on entries so :

1 to 9: 1
10 to 14: 2
15 to 19: 3 and so on
