Well i've advertised her on several sites, including the Pony Club which is where most of the interest is coming from.

So thank you to everyone who said to put her on there!

Now then, most people are looking for a fun pony for their kids - mostly hacking and some local PC shows. I like the sound of one lady in particular - she's a vet (always handy!), has 5 horses, she rides, her hubby rides and her son and daughter ride. Doll would be for her twin nieces (11 years old) and would be kept on her small-holding (8 acres) at home. Her daughter would bring her on and her nieces will start riding around May time.

Another person i like the sound of is someone with rented land (so Doll would live out all year) with a barn. Doll would be used as a plod for a 4 year-old child. Loaner has a Welsh Section A stallion, who they would put Doll to and have a foal from her.

What would you do?? Foal or ride?? I just think she's less likely to be sent back if she's used as a broodmare. I don’t want her being messed around all the time because she's not a robot and won’t stand perfectly still all the time!!!

It's called CHARACTER!!!

I know she'd be a great mum - she's already proved that. She's a gorgeous-looking thing and I can’t think of any reasons (health, conformation or personality-wise) why she shouldn't be bred from, although I wouldn’t do it myself because I’d end up keeping the baby!!

Anyway, I’ve still got lots of questions to ask the people, but at the mo I really can’t decide between these 2!

Any thoughts??

I'm sorry if i missed this bit but how old is she?

The vet sounds like a good bet - and sounds as though she should have the experience to deal with her if she starts getting a bit "sharp".

If she went to be a mum now would she get the oppurtunity of coming back to work again? Or would she then be on permanent mum mode? If she woud then be permanent mum would she be ok with this? Or would she get bored after a time?

She's about 9 now.

No, she wouldnt be a permanent mum - she'd always be able to be brought back. Just the 1 baby i think.

She's easy enough to bring back into work. She'd had a foal before we got her and i brought her back then. And she had time off to be a foster mum too.

Decisions, decisions..!

My preference would be for the first one.

As for the second - unless your mare and her stallion are something special I don't see the point of breeding them. She doesn't sound like much of a suitable plod either. I imagine she'd do better with a job to do.
