What would you do?

If the answer to the above question was no, do you think I should look into changing Tweenie's bit (

Well some of you may remember me posting the other day about finding the horse of my dreams and agreeing to have a lesson on her on wed before I go to New Zealand.
In my mind there was nothing wrong with having a lesson the day before we fly and the thought of something going wrong had never crossed my mind, however when I told my OH about my plans his response was "don't you dare fall off before New Zealand" now the thought of falling off had never crossed my mind as I trust in my ability and know that I will take all the necessary precautions to minimise any risks, although I am aware there are always risks where horses are concerned. Now when I retold this to my mother she echoed my OHs fears and said well it is tempting fate to have a lesson on a new horse the day before you leave (this infuriated me as this is the same woman who agreed to come watch my lesson a few hours earlier). Anyway my mother has now decided to text me saying that she's had to call RAC out because her car won't start, and thinks I shouldn't ride tomorrow as bad things always come in 3s and me falling would be the third thing (I've had a bad cold this week which is the 2nd thing!).

Now I don't know what to do as I know this is gonna be in the back of my mind the whole time I'm riding. I am tempted to wear my BP (I normally wear it for XC and SJ) tomorrow but it's so uncomfortable I feel I am more likely to fall wearing it than not.

So what would you do in this situation???

I put that I would ride, however I would have my hat and BP on (but I always do anyway), I would explain to the instructor the situation and play it by ear and wouldn't do anything that I or the horse wasn't happy with.

I would ride And not give it a second thought. if you start thinking negative then negative it will be .... positive all the way!

I'd ride- I bent my arm riding about half an hour before one of my birthday parties- Passed all the guests in the amublance! I still never even think about it though!

Ride! Put what other people are saying out of your mind and just focus on riding and you will be fine. The only way that you wouldn't be fine would be if you were still thinking about what your OH and your mum said about falling off. Ignore them!! What do they know!!! LOL!!

RIDE!

Yes trouble comes in threes, I came off my mare, then crashed my car! Everyone claims I'm due another accident but I've chosen to tell them writing off my car and the docs saying I can't ride for 7-10 days (then only if my neck is better!) as my final piece of bad luck! Just look for something negative, claim it as your third and ride away!!

I'd ride too. You could just as easily have fallen off 6 weeks ago and not have been able to go, and I'm guessing no-one said anything about riding then? You can't live life to the full if you constantly worry about what 'might' happen!

Aw cheers everyone! I am definately going to be riding tomorrow and I am sure it'll be fine! In honesty I rode Sunday so I could have easily hurt myself then but I didn't, plus whenever I fall I usually just bounce anyway.

When I agreed to ride tomorrow I didn't even think about the "what ifs" and thats how its going to stay

Yea my argument had been that I better not leave the house this week then as I could just as easily trip downstairs or get hit by a car/bus.

Am glad everyone has echoed my thoughts!!!! Will let you all know how it goes
