My cob cut a rear tendon at a meet back in January, and although did not have a very good initial prognosis, has been sound since Spring and back in light work from early summer. Since autumn he has been hacked out 3/4 times a week for approx 2 hrs with lots of canter work and popping logs and gorse bushes, with no signs of any problems.

My vet has given him the go ahead to get back to 'normal' but would you say it is to early to return to the hunting field?

Thanks for any opinions!

Depends on the type of going you have. Too soft & it may go again. If you pick & choose the meets taking into account the weather & terrain and always go home sooner than later, you could have a fun hour or two.

That's what I was considering - a short day with no jumping and avoid meets I know with bad ground. His injury was trauma related, not a strain, so am hoping it should hold up.
Problem is he loves his hunting and is now fit and ready to go and do something, and is getting bored of a life with no parties.
Will still think long and hard before I make the decisoin though....!
