i have a ex eventer who will be 18 this year, shes on perminant loan to me, to live out her days in a comfortable home

however since we have had her she has had numerous problem with her feet, and and knocks or scrapes turn into something huge!! when i am able to ride her shes amazing so gentle and safe, but still has that TB spark. i went up to ride today and she's lame again

so vet will be out tomoro AGAIN.

as i said in my post before this i have a highland pony who i've had for 6 yrs she's been out of work for a while but shes so keen to start work again, i rarely have issues with my wee tough highland so should i give my TB sometime off and focus on my highland??

i find it so devastating when things always go wrong, i spoil my horses rotten and they have the best home and are looked after so well, but i seem to spend more time on the phone to the vet when it comes to my TB than riding her

Has no one pre warned you about the TB Injury Hotline???? They have their own specialist hotline to come up with new injuries all the time!!! If I was you I would confiscate his/her mobile phone and laptop and not allow any contact with the outside world or contact with other TB's to discuss possible forthcoming ailments!!! Mine is now in a non TB environment and we've not had any injuries!!!

I have to disagree with you Ovidius. I have a tb who is now 30 and unfortunately has arthritis in his hocks. Until a few weeks ago he was still in light work and has never had any serious time off in all the time I've had him....27 years!! Maybe mine is the exception to the rule.

ovidius i totally agree lol!! the first thing tht was said to me to the guy who has his horses at the yard was...... " look at the size of tht f*****g horse!" and "you've just got yourself a walking vets bill" yes shes tall and he was right about the vets bill.

its such a shame cause when i am riding her she's amazing she was a 3* eventer, but she had to come away from it because she has a unlevelness behind so she was marked low on dressage, but shes a brilliant jumper. so she has worked hard when she was younger

AmyMay majority of her lameness comes from her very flat feet which are also very soft and being a bit arthritic. we've tryed loadsa different shoeing methods, and the farrier (who is brilliant!!) has now asked me to try her in old mac's which she was doing really well in. but the sole of her right hoof is now sore and bruised looking, just from the areas of her field which are stoney. i'm preying its not another absese, cant see any punctures. the farrier and vet will be up this week tho
