What would you do?

A friend is really struggling with her livery bills. She has a horse and a pony that is currently for sale but she has had no interest in him at all.

She has asked me if I will take pony for her and use him for the children I childmind who are currently learning to ride on 16.2 Ellie. This pony would be much more their size, he lives on fresh air and is a nice little chap, but I know I will end up keeping him and if the kids decide to give up riding I will be stuck with a pony I don't really need as I would feel too mean and guilty to make his owner take him back when I know she couldn't afford to do so.

Arrrrgggghhhh! What should I do?

Truthfully, pony is her problem and not yours though I suspect sentimentality is going to get in the way of you making a rational decision!

If it were me, then I wouldn't be taking it on.

Cant you just have the pony until someone buys it?? It might suit you both that way?

If she is that desperate and you are happy to take th pony on could you not buy it for a token amount? At least then you can sell the pony if you no longer need it.

Can't you just have the pony until it sells? If the children know that from the start it should help them not to get too attached.
