My big lad is going up for sale in the next couple of months, now I've decided to be brave and sell him.

So I will be looking for something else and this is where I'm a bit confused.
Theres a pony on my yard that I used to ride and I loved riding him, I really did, we had a blast and I just generally loved him.
He's everything I want, forward going but not overly stupid, can hack out alone/in company and is a brave honest jumper and will do a nice dressage test with some work.
He can be bolshy on the ground but this can be sorted with a routine. He'll load, be clipped and is good with farrier and dentist.
He's 13.3hh and i'm a lttle bit too tall for him but he carries me easily enough (jumped 1m10 with him)

The only problem is, he now has laminitis and is rather overweight and he also has splints.
The laminitis I could manage but i'm not sure I want the extra worry (that sounds awful!!) but then again he could never suffer from it again.
His owner said she'd like £3000 for him but I'm not sure he's really worth it at the moment.
His owner isn't a 100% she wants to sell him but I could make an offer? I have nothing to lose but right now I am really torn.
Would you make an offer? Or look for something else.

look for something else imho. he has health issues and is too small for you- keep looking til you find something that doesn't have health issues and is the right size plus all the other plusses that the pony has

From what you say I would have to be VERY in love with the horse in question to make an offer of just under £2K, certainly nothing more.

He's not won anything!! thats why I was not going to pay £3k for it! Not even if I had all the money in world!
Its only an idea at the minute and I DO love the pony but I am wondering if I should cut my losses and look for something else and face the fact he won't ever be mine.
The lamintis thing is bugging me.
I think i've just made my own choice really
