he went into vet hospital in may and they expected him to be sound enough to be in the field , but he still is very lame and i dont think he is happy .

What is wrong with him to make him lame? Is he on any pain relief medication? What breed is he? Is he turned out with others or on his own?

It depends if you want honest advice, but I am usually someone who only deals in honesty and if he were mine I'd say goodbye as it's the one last kind thing I could do for him. You say he is unhappy - your words - so I feel the fairest thing is to end that suffering; however, if there is a way you can make him happier, try that. Bear in mind that we are fast approaching winter when any lack of coping he's doing now will be made a lot worse.

My boy's legs swell in the stable - bandages should help.

ld he isd bandaged when he is in but its because he had blood poisioning which cut off some of the blood circulation to his leg.
i personally think he is unhappy, others dont agree , but i think i know him best !
vet is coming out tomorrow to lok at him, when he was in the vets in may he had lots of treatment (4k worth) and i dont know how much more i want to put him through

hi.. to all this may sound harsh but i do know the op..

id pts. simple the lad isnt happy.

people say a bit of unsoundness is ok, but i look at it this way.... a bit of pain we limp. so if a horse is lame some where it has pain,. especially if still lame on bute.

sox you know the snapper story, and you know what i would of done to ensure her future, it was for her not me, im sorry but id let your chap go to horsie heaven.
