I'd put my friend at the yards horses out for her yesterday morning as she was at a wedding so I asked her if she would put my two out this morning, which was fine, as I was working and it would mean I got a bit of a lay in.

I was mucking out this evening after work and couldn't find his bandages (which older horse has on at night), suddenly a horrid thought came over me that she's turned him out with them still on!

Poor horse has had his back leg bandages on all day in the field! Luckily the velcro stayed done up for he could of got caught up in the bandage and seriously injured himself! His legs were fine under the bandage, as I never bandage tightly, and somehow they wern't even muddy, the gamgee was only slightly damp at the bottom.

Now I know hope this was a genuine mistake by my friend. She's brought them in at night before and has put his bandages on then, so she knows he dosen't get turned out in them. She's been around horses for years so I'm pretty sure she knows that horses don't get turned out in stable bandages! Would you be cross? Should I say anything to her?

Thanks x

I would mention it incase she has to turn out again.Be polite and tell her you know it was genuine mistake and thank her at the same time.If she due to turout for you soon wait until then and it will look like a reminder rather than critisism(sp).

I would tease her about her hangover from the wedding when thanking her for turning out and forgetting the bandages. Bet she will be horrified

My old YO did this too. I just asked her if she hadn't seen them as they were a dark colour similar to his legs. She had indeed missed them totally. Luckily like you there was no harm done

I would tease her about being hungover. I certainly wouldn't be annoyed as it must have been a genuine mistake and no harm done.
ets i went up one morning and my friend had put my mares stable chaps on one front and one hind.

If you know that she knows that the horse shouldnt get turned out in his stable bandages I would treat it as a one off

Whats happened has happened she needs no educating so I wouldnt mention it - it was a genuine mistake

last yard I was at y/o daughter had her horse out in stable bandages lots of times (nothing wrong with legs) and as turn out is 24/7... I was the one searching the field for them or taking them off as horse was trailing them and she did not think it was a problem.. I would never touch anothers horse unless I thought it was in danger of getting hurt..
