The horse my pony shares turnout with is a right pain. I posted a while ago about sprays to stop chewing but when my mum lead him in today we discovered his rug had been ripped to shreds.
Would it be ok to ask owner to pay a bit towards new rug, or let it go and keep peace on the yard(we have only been there just over a month)??

Thanks in advance

I wouldnt ask for anything towards new rug cause the owner cant help the fact that his/her horse is a pain! Imagine if you were in their situation, would you pay when technically its not your fault (i would as my horse sounds a lot like the one in this post and has just been put out with a pony so sorry if this is you haha but thats beyond the point i know most wont!)?

Could you not instead talk to horses owner/ YO about seperating the field to section them off and away from each other? Or finding a different field friend and put the horse with a horse that wont take it biting him and your pony with something else?

Difficult one that. Was it a new rug? If its a bit older maybe you could put it down to experience and keep the peace as you say. Would be worth mentioning to pony's owner so that they are aware its happening. Alternatively, could you turn out with a different horse/pony?

Yes he will be turned out with other horse. I think I'll keep the peace. It's just annoying as this horse also has kicked out (many times) and bitten my poor boy. I will not let them out together now.

I have the same problem with the horse my boy is turned out with, he ripped his brand new snuggy hood yesterday - big time

The trouble is my horse 'bothers' other horses, he wants to play all the time and they get fed up with him, I have had 3 rugs torn, buckles & straps torn off etc. in the last coupleof weeks, but it's his own fault, I can't blame anyone.

It still wasn't nice though when I had to sew up my snuggy hood muttering under my breath gggrrrrr!
