iv moved my 5 horses to a new grass livery on saturday, the hacking round there is great no roads and miles of woodland, so my 4yr old daughter gets to hack off leadrein with no traffic. the yard is nowhere near finished but my field is fine there are no tie up rings and i have to carry water down field olso its very remote noone to keep check at night and when im not at yard, so security could be a issue. now iv just been offered a little place about 6 acres with running water and 2 stables on it unbelievably cheap a full size school across road that i can rent, my problem is that altho its country lanes i dont know anyone there and my way around bridleways etc would any of you just take the risk and hope you like it or should i stick to what i know,

i would give it some thought if you could find out if there was the possiblilty of building enough stables to accomodate all your horses. (you could always build one or two more and have liveries??) i am sure each hack would be an adventure.
speak to the people who own the school across the way and get their opinion.
good luck with whatever you decide (me so jealous)

I'm sure you will make friends at your new yard, most people are keen for someone to hack out with so ask if you can go with them.
If you're alone at the new place you need to get yourself an OS Explorer map! That will have all your local Bridleways marked on it. Make it your mission to go exploring. A good trick is to look for hoofprints on the bridleways you ride - that way you will know they are safe to ride on. And you might meet some other riders on your travels who will be able to tell you the best places to ride.
Make sure you ARE riding on designated bridleways though!

Have fun and explore!!!

there wouldnt be a way of putting any more stables up but as mine are out all year it would be a luxury for them i would be saving £160 a month if i take it so loads of new rugs lol. im olso thinking of the fact iv only been at new place for 3 days but paid a month in advance so it would be next month i move anyway, would it cause arguments or be like im leaving them inthe lurch as its not really up and running yet.

5 horses/ponies on 6 acres 24/7 365 days a year ? think the acreage is too small unless you have a load of dinkies! could be a mud bath in winter and a long haul into summer? tho i suppose it depends on how good the land is drainage wise?

they are 4 littlies and a cob there is olso a field seperate that i could rent so land wise i would be fine
