My boy needs shoes (tried barefoot for 8mts but had to go back to shoes :-( ..) my prob is he always clips the inside of his front fetlock with his shoe as he's very close at front.. It's not just a sore It's like a piece of skin gets scraped off leaving a 5p size hole raw and bleeding... Now I currently turn out in brushing boots which work but in rain or heat when his legs get wet they rub... We use bandages for riding at all times.. What are are the best boots to turn out in permanently as in day and night while lives out (if left of for a couple of hours without he catches it again and we end up back to square one.. Ideas??
Thanks for reading this far...Chocolate shortbread for all :-)

I don't think there are any boots suitable for 24/7 turnout. Maybe you'll have to part stable him? Is there anything the farrier can do with the shoes to minimize brushing?

He is stabled in winter but in summer lives out (he seems to get other injuries in the stable lol:confused: and hates being stabled on his own, all live out untill end oct so not an option atm unless i want many more injuries:mad: ... Farrier has tried but he still brushes :(

I might have a go at that... Im confused really as it was the other leg we had the problem with before shoes came off, shoes back on at its opposite side.. we are doing a lot more now and hes fitter than he has been. Hes an ex racer and they always have shoes on when racing so im wondering if he had the problem then.. ill have a look at turn out chaps but i think they need a strike pad as its almost like someone has sliced through his skin with a knife so a bit of material isnt going to offer the protection he needs..
