So bit of an odd one. I left a yard I was both working at and had my horse there, the owner was not plesent by any stretch of the imagination. One of the liveries had a pony of mine on loan and I agreed to let them keep it at the yard after I left. The yard owner had a temper with the horses but this is a little pony who lives out so I thought he would be fine. A few things happened and loaner has given pony back and he is In a nice new home but when I saw him I thought he was a bit head shy. And received a face book message of one of the liveries yesterday telling me how my pony had been set to with a plastic pipe as he butted a groom. What would you do ? I'm not a fluffy horse person and will tell a horse if its in the wrong but I am really not happy about the poor sod being beaten round the head with a pipe. Is there any point me kicking off about this or should I just leave it as pony is no longer there. The yard is a full livery yard in essex and I do worry he is doing it to other horses
 
Personally, i'd let him know, don't tell him how you know, but advise him he is being watched. Tell him that if you hear any other reports you will be taking it further. Do him good to be looking over his shoulder. Glad to hear your pony is in a nice new home now.
 
There is nothing you can do, I doubt that the person who told you would be prepared to stand by this in front of the YO. However thiere is nothing at all to stop you mentioning it to anyone who asks you to recommend a yard to them. The horse world is very small and reputations, good and bad, get around easily.
 
Tbh the guy is horrid and I don't think I will say anything to him but would you tell the liveries who are still there ? I'm sure if he was doing it to a little pony he would be doing it to the other , more bolshy horses too
 
I think the reason why the world is turning into a sadder place is because people are too scared these days to say something, when something needs to be said, even it it just makes the person realise they have been seen, they are guilty, people know what goes on, it might make them think next time before they do it again.
 
That treatment is wrong but its difficult to do anything about it.
You don't want to come across as petty with a vendetta against the owner.

Could you contact fellow liveries and ask what they honestly think of the care and if they have has any issues?
