Right I was approached by the yard owner today she basically asked if I would like to move stables.
The reason being this woman has a horse and it went down in stable a few weeks back and very nearly didnt get up had to have fire brigade to it, Vet nearly put it down that day but owner wouldnt let them.

She needs a bigger stable and the only place it can go is my stable or this other girls, other girl said no.
I feel bad for horse though as it is living out at the moment and wont last over winter in field.

Well ben would fit in the other stable but Im not sure about him getting in it, as it could be tight no other horses have had probs going in but I wonder if he will fit? Also the other horse cant go in it as it cant walk that far and the corner will be too tight for it as its very old and stiff.

I dont want to be asked why they havent they put it down or the sort as its not my horse, also the yard owner said if I wanted the stable back after the horse then I can.

What would you lot do? I so confused?

If the old horse is out in the field anyway now, could you try your boy in the smaller one for a little while and see if he settles. On the strict understanding that if he doesn't you get your current stable back. If he does settle eveyone is happy, if not you can say you tried and won't feel so guilty about it.
It's nice that you are even considering it as many people wouldn't.

Well It not smaller its same size stable but you have to turn sharpish to get in it well it prob be tight for the size of ben. I did say to yard owner when the horse isnt in it can I try him to see if he squeezes in or not and she was fine with that. Its yard owners stable but hers is going into the block with her horses in about a week or so. The other one had a stable on bottom yard but its not very big hence needin bigger stable.

I'd give it a go, see if your horse can get in and out comfortably. Its not the old horse's fault and if the boot was on the other foot and it was your horse that needed the stable how would you want people to react?

I should have a few trial goes getting in and out. If you have ever visited Lambourn you would be surprised at some of the older stables there - very tight turns but the racehorses must have managed!
Hope you manage to get something sorted.

See Im nice anyway and I am thinking about it, I think I will try to see what ben is like going in and out, I dont want her to have to leave horse out over winter as its not in the best of condition as it is, and it wont survive so I want her to have her in and happy as horse hates it over night in field.

I have kind of made my mind up but if he doesnt fit round the corner then so be it but I will try as I would like someone to be the same for me, One other girl said no even though her horse is a lot smaller and would have been better but oh well.

See the only thing stopping me is the corner ben is 17.2 not 15.2 so be tight, I would give it straight away if I wasnt worried about corner but I think he probs will be fine plus got option of having it back anyway after.

One girl got asked and she said no outright which I thought was unfair as If I had her horse then I would have as its smaller than mine not that it matters but I am the type of person that would have given it the stable anyway, no rush to decide as yard owner said she needs to move her new horse out of it anyway but need to rebuild a stable wall that another horse broke lol.

I just wanted reassuring really. I knew deep down what I was going to do.

I lead mine past all kinds of things that dad has parked in the way (recently left me a 70cm gap to get a saddled horse through!)

Its very good to teach them to follow you through anything. However being me, I would be asking for a wee discount for changing stables!

Lol, well I did say to her I will think about it as I will have to have fresh bed for him as I dont do other peoples beds and old bed kind of thing, But she said that would be of no cost to me as doing her a favour, I could have the new bed free of charge. So Im very tempted also other stable dont have tackroom and have to share, but this one has one and a brand new water feeder. Ook I think thats me going in that stable lol.

i'd make sure your horse is happy going in the other stable (being very careful he doesn't bash his hips, if it's tight getting in) and if he is, swap, definitely, for the old horse's sake.
but if it really starts going downhill, someone needs to tell the owner that sometimes the best thing to do is also the hardest thing.

I agree with that, they do know as that is partly why yard owner wants mine or another girls stable, as its so the wagon can get to them when the worst does happen. I just want to make sure both are happy I dont want mine to do any damage to himself.
