I need to cut down on horses,

so my sec D is going up for sale.

I was hoping to advertise him for £3000 but what do you think?

15.1hh 5yr old, Reg welsh D (all the top bloodlines in there - stunning straight mover with good trad stamp) liver chestnut, Green but safe, Jumps huge!! Not lazy but not quick - perfect! Needs more schooling but very nicely balanced and natural head carraige, 100% traffic, catch, box, shoe, clip etc. Gentleman to do anything with, was nervous when i orginally got him but over coming that (dosnt like rash body language or shouting! - needs a normal calm person) loves attention, is no bother at all, good doer, has been to shows, xc rides, pleasure rides etc, i cant speak anymore highly of this boy his only bad things is he needs schooling more and getting out doing things!

is £3k ok to ask for him.

I would say that's a very reasonable price, if he's as good as he sounds. In fact if you weren't so far away I'd know someone who'd be interested!

Well considering the market I don't know. I brought mine for less than that (£3000), but more than what the other poster said at £2400. Mine was just backed, done nothing, no shows obvisouly no jumping was older too and hadn't even been in a school. Mine is half wb though and a Mare, but out of maesymynech (OK, that is a complete guess of the spelling there so I know it's wrong!!)

So maybe £2400 is about right is the market isn't going anywhere at all.

xx

I think that sounds right. Big Welsh D's in my opinion are worth a bit more as over 15hh ones are quite hard to find. I had to go to Wales to find the 15.2hh D I had! He sounds lovely, I'm glad I've got no money right now or I'd have him!

ok thanks,
hes been cubbing once, 2 showing shows and just sponcered rides etc.

hes happy to jump 4'6, but green so makes mistakes. and he clears it by miles.

but hes 100% in traffic which to me is worth more ? although he can be shy with people.

thanks
i can see what interest i get *crosses fingers*

In the current market it sounds a bit too much if he is being sold as a general allrounder/RC type. However if you can sell him as a serious jumping prospect then it sounds very reasonable. In that case, since he is 5 I reckon people may expect him to have been out in a few competitions. If you don't get any interest right now, would it be possible for you to take him to a few jumping classes so he has a competition record? I reckon it would make a big difference to the price you may get if he has competition experience, even if you just aim for a clear round.

Good luck, he sounds like a nice youngster.
