I'm bored
, so just wondering what you would pay for Mo / how much you think she's worth?
15.2hh, 14 year old bay mare. Unpapered, but passport says 'Belgian Warmblood'. Has done a lot of showjumping in her time, but only did one BSJA show before being sold on (went double clear). I dont jump much, but when i have, i just sit there and she does all the work and sorts herself out - never refuses or rushes.
We've put the most novice of riders on her and she's an absolute star. A real school mistress to school and hack. Always snaffle-mouthed. Never tries it on. Always placed/wins in local shows - equitation, family horse, riding horse, etc. Went to our first dressage test after spending a weekend with Mike Jones at Two Mills Sport Horses and being told we could easily win a prelim or novice test...and we did! But then she went and developed a strange swelling on her leg! Was never lame, but we had it scanned - she had a lesion on her lateral digital extensor. Vet said it would never cause any problems, but to give her a couple of weeks boxrest and a couple more of field rest. She's just coming back into work now and we hope to really get into the dressage this year and hopefully affiliate.
She loves the beach and fun rides and will jump anything you ask of her, but is always sensible. Again, i'd put a TOTAL novice on her and trust her completely. She'd easily hunt if we wanted her to.
Angel to handle (NEVER mareish) and i can honestly say she has never even put her ears back at a person, let alone bite or kick them! 100% Perfect to hack in the heaviest of traffic and with the farrier, dentist, vet and to lunge, catch and clip. Real good-doer - very cheap to feed! Gets 10-hour soaked hay and a bit of Happy Hoof a day.
Downsides - she has some form of cataracts. We took her to see Dr. Knottenbelt at Leahurst and he said that he doubts she's even aware they're there and from his experience, they're highly unlikely to ever progress, but i'm not sure if this would affect her value??
She loads ok, but if left a while without being travelled, she struggles to get her balance in the box and falls about / scrambles! When in the stocks at Leahurst, she thought she was in a trailer and was doing it in there! She's fine once she gets used to it again, and if you take it easy. Better in a box than a trailer.
She's a bit 'clicky' in her legs and can be a little bit stiff when coming out of the stable in the morning, but since starting her on Grand Flex, she's been perfect. Vet was really impressed at how she lunged on a 5m circle on concrete after being on boxrest!
Oh, and she has windgalls in both hinds, but they're only a cosmetic issue.
That's all i can think of for now. Here's some pics. What do you think she'd be valued at?
Ignore me! I cant jump!
