hi everyone - just wondering in your opinion - what wage would you give for this.....

someone working 6 day week (12 horses on yard) general yard duties including helping muck out, turn in and out (only a few), groom, change rungs, feed, ride if desired...... get own accommodation (lovely caravan) and stable for own horse (feed, hay and bedding paid for too) - just wondering what sort of wage you would give with the job???

thanks

That's a tricky one! There are so many many factors for wage ie, age, previous experience, wether you were at the yard to train or not. Having accomodation and your horse stabled effects it too.. I would roughly say around £200.

I have a friend who currently earns 180-200 for doing the same amount of horses (mucking out ten) riding them out, and its a hunt yard so doing all the plaiting etc in winter. She keeps her horse there for nothing (i think!), but doesn't stay there herself. so agree with above around £200 sounds right (erm, thats before tax though!)
