I'm quite fancying breeding my mare at some point over the next couple of years.. not in a huge rush or anything, just an idea really..

Shes passported at 146cm, but I'd say she was a full up 148 since she did grow after we bought her.
Fully registered Irish bred Connie mare. Was 14 this year.
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/song+duchess is her breeding.

some pictures:
She's between 6-8 in these pictures.

I'd want something to make a nice all rounder.
Maybe potential to do some county WHP type stuff?
Not after anything huge, say as maximum of about 16h at maturity but would be happy with something at 15.2

Wow she would produce a really cracking eventer if put to a TB event stallion! I would put her to Criminal Law to produce a top class eventer/allrounder

TB then you are keeping it as a 1st cross, & it will more likely give the height then an Arab. WB are already a mix, so you oould not guarantee what type you would get unless you use a stallion who stamps his stock. Or how a about an AA, a straight TB/Arab cross?

It depends on what you aim to breed. If you want more movement for dressage then I'd go for a WB. Criminal Law is getting old now and you'd have to make sure his fertility was OK.

Much as I would looove such a super pony for my Arab boy, I have to be honest and agree that for what you want a TB or Anglo-Arab would be best. (sniff!

)

You're more likely to get the size you want, and for WHP classes you wouldn't want something too Araby!

If you're looking at Anglos there is a lovely young Anglo Intermediate eventer called All That Jazz, ridden by William Fox-Pitt, standing at Biddesden Stud (sorry I don't have a link, but if you google Biddesden you'll find him). He's a straight 50/50, first cross, Arab x TB.

(P.S. I have no connection with or vested interest in this stallion - just think he is lovely.)

I would go for a TB or a Trakehner - and if you want to event, probably something that has proven himself in competition.

Godington Hannibal would be up there on my list if I had a mare like yours sounds - he competed to 4* international eventing, has (young) progeny competing at Intermediate level and he stamps his stock well.

I'm not really interested in eventing just wondered what made someone say she'd make a nice eventer.

I want a daddy for her now lol.. this was just an idea when i made this post!!
/goes to look at the suggestion..

Thanks guys!

She would have a nice foalie by my connie stallion dark stranger but i don't know if you would get a 15.2hh out of him although his foals tend to be well up to height we are in cheshire if interested pm me

Hi caj, I'm not really planning to put her into foal any time soon, just looking at options really in the event I do decide I want a baby..

Can you PM me details?

There's a stallion where I work which would probably be suitable. He himself is an Intermediate Event stallion, and most of his offspring are of WH or event type. He's called Med Night Mahout, and you can find out more about him on www.clivedenstud.co.uk, there are also many pictures and a few of his offspring at the the stud if you're interested.
