What would you re colic?

Horse got out today, at 4.10 , eaten 4 big feed including bute. Found at 6 , currently he seems no difference, eating hay and has drank. Yard manager has said to check every hour , but should I ring the vet or is there anything else I can do?! Thanks

If it were my horse, I would def be phoning the vet for their advice. Also, not sure he should be eating anything more, including hay. Hope he's ok!

Rang the vet, said to leave him with no hay and keep checking, no point coming out at the moment they have said!

unless they were feeds for giant horses I would not be too worried, I would pop back and forth at regular intervals but would be surprised if you have any problems

What were the contents of the feeds he ate.

Hopefully they were just bowls of fibre/speedibeet. As long as they were not bucket full's of barley or competition/race mix he should be fine.

Just checked ,seems ok ! Mainly pony nuts and fibre and a scoop of competition mix :s

For future reference, pigging out is a wait and see job, my lad raided the feed room when the door wasn't quite closed, ate half a black bin of chaff, the same amount of barley, left the dried sugar beet alone (thank god) pooed twice in the feed room, then stood dozing in the barn, I was frantic when I realised how much he'd eaten, he wasn't the least bit concerned, I stabled him and checked every half an hour, the beggar was still banging his door for his supper
