what would you reccomend feed wise for a 16.2hh 7yr hanoverian mare that isnt the easiest to keep weight on?

She gets ad lib hay, i cant give hayledge as with only having the one horse it goes off.

Hard feed she gets:

1 scoop of mollichop showshine 2x day
1 scoop of conditioning mix 2x a day

She cant have sugar/speedi beet as she swells up.

I am no novice to horses and have owned them the past 12years however i have never really read into what i am actually feeding my horse, just the basic what it says on the bag and that it keeps her weight and condition good.

However i have been advised there will be alot of sugars in this diet which i dont really want.

If anybody can advise me on a diet to give her i would appreciate it, thanks x

You could try micronised linseed - similar nutritionally to good grass but without the high sugar. And I would try the small bagged haylage - marks way horsehage as the bags would be used up mostly before they went off as they are pretty small (ESP in colder months when they don't go off as quick and when horse is having more ). Maybe the Timothy one or the high fibre one to start, the ryegrass one might be too risky sugars wise.

micronised linseed is excellent for safe weight gain plus being good for overall health and condition. I'd also feed alfa a oil instead of mollichaff and baileys no4. shame she can't have speedibeet, but this combo worked for my mare :)
