Right here are the stats.
16.1 imported Dutch Warmblood, 8inches of bone infront, 9 inches of bone behind. Good straight paces, I wouldn't like to show in any classes where they are ridden by a judge.. Shes very sharp. I know next to nothing about showing but since daddy has bought a defender with a tow bar I want to get out and about, showing and dressage.
This is what she looks like whe she looks decent..

Local level hunter classes workers or ridden. Equitation classes will suit you both too if you are focusing on stressage :-)

PS You'll need a tweed

Thank you Ladylina :)
I wouldn't dare jump her, I would die, if anyone else around me is a decent rider wants a go at workers with her, off they go :D Equitationn and ridden hunter sounds good :D
What would the turnout of Buffy need to be? Plaited and tail pulled? I also have black tack, black dressage saddle? Would that be ok for local level?

More than fine - in my opinion it is better to show in a dressage saddle than a jumping one !

your bridle needs to be plain leather.

Just tweed, shirt tie long black boots, brown gloves and light coloured jods- oh and a hairnet !

No boots on your horse - plaited pulled and a discreet black numnah

See what the judges think of her as she doesn't have a massive amount of bone she might be ok in a riding horse class but it can be hard to tell where the line is, sometimes I think it is more about movement and paces as sometimes I can't tell the diff between a LW hunter and a riding horse other than TO - then you are getting into pretty brow band territory !!

^^^ ditto above

She wouldn't look out of place in some kind of hunter class be it ridden or working, plait her up and pull her tail, nice plane hunter noseband/brown tack and you in a tweed...jobs a good un!

Good Luck

I'm probably completely wrong but I seem to remember someone telling me once that if the horse is on the border of hunter and riding horse then she goes on paces, if it has nice floaty paces she goes into the riding horse and if it is more 'workmanlike' she puts it into LW hunters.

This was my thinking too - to my mind you want a riding horse to be working well behind, light in the hand and uphill + maybe a sprinkle of some flicky toes and a hunter to be covering the ground yet still making a nice shape if that makes sense ! :)

Aim for hunter and get some judge coments - all you'll need to change is your browband for £25 quid

PS snaffle is ok but a pelham/ double is better ! Equitation you need a snaffle most of the time and I have hacked to many shows in my youth with only my snaffle to do both classes in at local level it might not really matter

Ahh, I think she's a riding horse.
She's probably not big enough, deep enough or workmanlike enough to be a LW hunter, and I wouldn't put to much on paces, LW hunters, although chunkier, still float across the ground but tend to be more ground covering ;)

She looks very nice, as a riding horse, clip her heels, pull tail, cut tail so its hock height when she's ridden and trim her chin and beard.

I think she'll do very well as she has warmblood paces but not iffy warmblood conformation (in showing eyes of course). Id recommend a red browband for her and ideally a double- you can ride on the snaffle anyway. You should wear a tweed jacket, canary/buff johdpurs and long black boots. White/blue shirt with red tie and tie pin and collar pin. Also carry a show cane and wear either a beagler or a navy velvet show hat.

I wouldn't discard the idea of showing her at county level entirely, my very sharp stressy mare had her first season with a ride judge and they got on just fine-they are very experienced riders after all.

Just make sure she's working well in walk trot canter, in an outline and soft in the hand and off the leg and you'll do fine.

Good Luck and hopefully you'll be hooked! x

Oy !! Who you calling workman like lol !!! But very fair comment above

I'm more of an intermediate type to be honest (overgrown ponies to put it simply) so I guess that's what I'm seeing, she has got a lovely shoulder though. I still wouldn't sneer at you in the hunter ring

Oh and judges - don't worry about them SHARP is my girls middle name but somehow always goes like a dream for the judge lol

I wish mine did  here eyes pop out of her head and she buggers off :D Going to get her ridden over the winter and aim for some showing and dressage come spring :)
