What your opinion on the breeding crisis in the UK

I’m currently studying equitation Training and behaviour at duchy college.
I am researching over Breeding in the UK and how Breeding has become unstoppable and horses welfare has been put on the line due to many horses being born with conformational faults or In to a home which are unable to look after them.
Would it be possible to have your views and opinions on this subject and how this has affected the horse as a whole?

With horses going for only a few £100 and the market is over-ran with unwanted horse's and that is before you count the abandoned and unwanted horses. Because of these points the breeding of horses needed to be restricted. Maybe have stallion licences back to control breeding. If you have a stallion you need a licence simple as

I assume the mares would be the same then. I am afraid I am of the school who thinks if you can breed from any old mare then you should be able to use whatever stallion you like!!!!

yep mares too but be graded and only certain grades can be covered

Better get the state police involved in that one then.
Its a lovely theory but as much as I disagree with breeding from unsuitable mares,a lot of the breed socs are ruled to much by politics so equal mares put forward by different people will be graded differently!¬There are already graded mares within certain breeds who should never have been graded!

TBH I don't think anything will work but this is just my idea. Politics have a lot to answer for IMHO
