I was at the end of a reasonably long hack last week with a friend (discussing TV!?) when my horse suddenly, for the first time in 2 years, decided he wasn't a cob any more, but a thoroughbred - it was such a shock, I came off when he spun. There didn't seem any reason for it - and my friends horses couldn't work it out either (he just looked in amazement!)
Since then, he has been in thoroughbred mode a lot of the time, on a hack yesterday he was still clearly thinking about taking off for quite a lot of the time (but I was ready and didn't fall off - yay).
So questions, is this typical 6 year old behaviour to change so quickly and become a much more spooky sensitive sole, is it the time of the year, or does anyone have any other thoughts. Is it the time of the year or would my falling off have disturbed him that much (doesn't normally).
Help?
