I keep all my travel stuff in one big bag (size of a launderette bag) ie: travel boots and summer travel sheet, tail bandage, tail guard -for use each time, but also in that bag i keep a spare headcollar, spare leadrope, 4 travel bandages, and there's probably a few other bits in there too. Once I've "dressed" the pony the bag gets put in my boot so I know I have everything and don't have to think about it.
In the boot of the car I always keep a puncture repair kit and a portable air compressor(I've had them for years and never needed to use them but feel safer having them).
I keep a water container and bucket in the trailer, so that I never leave home without them (obviously filling up with water each trip).
I keep a trailer "jack" in the trailer - not sure of proper name or brand name but it's a big bright yellow hard plastic contraption that you put on the road and drive the trailer's good wheel into it so the punctured wheel is off the ground for you to fix it -again never used but makes me feel more prepared!
Always keep some spare baling twine tied up in the trailer-1000 uses and you never know when you might need some.
I think that's about it for now... I haven't used my trailer all winter so may have forgotten something.
Oh and I get my trailer serviced around March each year as it helps to hold the value if you have a full service history, but mainly because my animals are so so precious to me (prefer them to most people) and it makes me feel reassured about their safety.
Having transport is fantastic, it's like getting a pair of wings, the world suddenly becomes so much more accessible, I'm sure you'll have great fun getting out and about in yours!!!

Obviously the horse, horse and rider kit. First aid kit and bandages. Warning triangles in case you break down.

You should have your horses passport too.

Spare headcollars and ropes

Dont forget to increase the pressure in your rear tyres on the towing vehicle.

Water and buckets for the horse, feed in case you need it to get the horse back in. Lunge line for the same purpose.

Check your spare wheel is inflated and safe.

Other than that breakdown cover for the car and additional cover for the trailer and horses. Make sure all are covered, some policies would recover your car and trailer and leave the horses at the side of the road.

Other than that I wouldn't bother, thats what breakdown cover is for :D

Oh and mobile phone and charger, sat nav and a map for when the sat nav tells you are in a field when you are really on the M56 :D

First aid kits for horses and humans. Fly spray. Spare headcollars and leadropes (so many have snapped while away over the years, never at home!) Lots of water - especially on longer journeys - you never know when you're going to get stuck in a queue. Bucket. Haynet - again more than enough hay, just in case. Phone numbers for emergencies.

Then whatever you need specifically for where you are going/what you are doing, for example I keep shampoo, leg cooling gel and stud kit in my "Tub" that lives in my trailer. I also have a clear A4 folder stuck inside my trailer - into which I put times/schedules for shows/events, so I can see what I'm doing at a glance without having to go into the car.

I have everything on the above lists, but I got fed up of forgetting things each time.
So, now I have a large bag full of ready packed 'show gear' including brushes, creams and potions and sprays, hoof pick, old towel, leg bandages, tail bandages, etc for shows and competitions.
I also have one of those saddle racks that fit nicely in the boot of your car, underneath you can store things you might need -so this contains lesson/everday gear including boots, my hat, hoof pick, tail bandages, travel rug and I keep it ready packed. If travelling locally to an arena/yard, I don't carry water, just a bucket and fill up when I get there. Passports and breakdown insurance are carried in my show bag.
Don't forget a drink and snack for yourself as if you've been working hard, you're bound to need to restore your energy levels!

I can never understand people travelling their horses without having hay on board. Someone came to collect a horse from me a few months ago and said "I haven't bothered with a hay net as we haven't very far to go". If you break down/get a puncture etc, the last thing you need is a hungry bored horse bashing about in the back demanding your attention!

If you haven't got a trailer jack, any old block of wood will do (just drive your trailer up on it and hey presto the dodgy one is off the ground. As it happens, I've had the tyres on my trailer injected with a special gel which seals punctures, so unless I shred the tyre wall this, at least, isn't something I have to worry about, which is a real bonus :)

I have one of those saddle racks too - they're great, and the really useful boxes fit underneath them -which is what I have my trailer stuff in. I have spare brushes in there too. Suncream is another thing that lives in the kit too - for horses and humans!

You are all very good! I just take horse, tack, my stuff, rugs etc. have a tyre pump always in the Landy and my dad is a mechanic so I would just call him! oh dear doesn't sound good compared to rest of you but we don't travel too far. I always to vehicle and trailer tyres and checks before we go though.

My vet kit includes a twitch, a chifney, and a tube of Sedalin. I've also got the stuff to take a twisted shoe off with in there.

I have one of those step storage boxes that I have all the essentials in that I take with me even if I am going 2 minutes down the road.

In it is spare headcollars (sizes to cover all my horses), spare leadropes, horsey first aid kit, brace thingy for the trailer and the alum key, as these are the quick release devices for the breast bars (IW506), foot pump, spare bailer twine and a twitch.

I also have a trailer aid that comes with us as this allows the trailer wheel to be changed without unloading. well worth the £40 it cost not to have to unload at the side of a busy road!

The step is also very useful for removing the centre partition!
