What's special about irish horses?

Tough, have a mind of their own and generally just nice "people"

Not as "robotic" as some other breeds

Have their own mind which gives them a pony like quality to ride IMHO

Thank you, that's a nice compliment!

Yes, as long as I don't hurt anyone's feelings (in which case I wouldn't be so brutal!

) you can count on me to be honest!

I have had a love affair with Irish horses for as long as I can remember, they can be phenomenal!

The Carthorse is spot on!! The Irish take their breeding seriously and that bit of ID in the crosses makes them really sane...careful with themselves AND their jockey. I'd go Irish everytime....errrr except I currently have a Welsh D....
Well, Irish for HORSES for sure! Ponies are another matter!

Yes I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with my irish mare, its a long story, but I have been through hell and high water for her, and she is quite content to repay me with the odd hack (she doesnt do exercise!) the most talented capable horse I am ever likely to own, but she gets stage fright!

I tend to think of them as being able to find a fifth leg! Have had 2 both from Ireland, a connie on loan and my current Irish cob. They're both super animals, clever and up for it!

I used to know someone who had an Irish TB and an English one - she used to let her kids potter round on the Irish one who would quite happily donkey round for them whereas the English one was a tad loopy. The odd thing is that she bought both of them when they were 6 months old and they grew up on her farm, treated the same etc...
