Whats the best (and right) thing to do?

I have a pony out on loan for the summer. I haven't done a loan agreement, my mistake, but she is at loan where I work so I see her nearly every day.
I need to sell her by winter. The loan is supposed to be until mid September but if I advertise her then its a dead time of year. It doesn't seem that anything is selling now, even.
So, do I advertise her now and if she sells say 'Bad luck' to the loanee? Or should I really not do anything until at least the end of August?
She is being really well schooled and competed where she is so its doing me a huge favour aswell. I don't expect lots of money for her- if they are the right price are they still selling?
 
Depends on why you HAVE to sell her?

Personaly id see if first loanee could buy, if not perhaps extend loan till spring.

I'm not sure its right terminating the loan early, but if you explained that the horse has to be sold, maybe they wont mind letting you put her up for sale, whilst still loaning her? after all things aren't selling well so it may take a while.
 
Sorry I didn't reply, Broadband died on me.
Loanee only has her for the summer, for 2 months actually. She is not in a position to buy her.
I want to sell her as my son no longer wants to ride so she would be wasted and I won't have time to ride her aswell as my horse. If she came back here for the winter I would take her shoes off and turn her away which as she is going so well would not be best.
I think I will bite the bullet and speak to loanee direct. Gulp!
 
The advantage of speaking to the loanee is that she might know someone that would be interested? Word of mouth, as I understand it, seems to be far more successful for selling horses at the moment, rather than adverts.

Especially if the loanee is out competing, she might meet someone who might be interested in your pony.

Don't be afraid to speak to her. If you didn't have an agreement, then by speaking to her now and discussing it, it's the fairest option on both of you.

Yes speak honestly to the loanee. Explain why. Tho chances are she won't have sold by then, but she needs to be advertised now - at the end of the school holidays the market will be flooded with ponies to sell...
 
You sometimes see adverts For Sale At End of Season so you could give advance notice of sale but you should talk to loanee first & tell them what you intend to do,
