Hello my name is Leah,
I am currently studing Level 3 extended certificate in equine management. My project for the year ahead is "what's the best bit and bridle to use on various horses in various disciplines and why?"

I would appreciate people's opinions/experience on this topic that i could use as a part of my research!

Thanks in advance
L

thats not an easy one. for example you need to think what sort of horse and what shape the mouth and tongue are and even for that fairly simple sounding example there are several variables that need taking into consideration

That's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. You might be best formulating a set of questions you would like answering

This, absolutely. A very long piece of string.

Different countries/continents, different spheres of equestrianism, traditions for different breeds, and that's before you get into individual horses requirements :( Great project to do once you figure out how you will go about it.

I live in North America, 90% of the people I know ride in shanked bits, but not all ride in western saddles, and the range of activities they are active in ranges immensely. Reining, roping, gaming, Xtreme Cowboy Racing, Mountain trail, endurance, pleasure rides, you name it. I have gaited horses, traditionally their bridling and bitting is completely different again.
