what do you mean by actually works?!
For minor cuts and scrapes its good old sudocream for mine.
I also keep intrasite gel in stock incase of anything a bit deeper that might need dressing/stitching

I use either savlon or aloe vera. I have an aloe vera plant and just open up the leaves and squeeze out the gel, it works really well, I've used it on a few nasty cuts and they healed very quickly and with no infection, proud flesh or scarring and it's also very cost effective and completely natural

I use Dermoline for minor wounds, although I prefer that Equine America Veterinus Derma Gel stuff. For sores and things that haven't broken the skin I use aloe vera. For deeper or more difficult healing wounds I have a tube of Vetalintex hydrogel that I use, but it's expensive so I only use it if I have to!
Moist wound healing is key, powders only dry wounds out which interferes with quick and effective healing.

Veterinus Derma Gel, or Cut+Heal, for minor cuts and abrasions.
Intrasite for deep wounds which need fleshy fill-in, but can't be stitched.

As above really, Dermisol is good for stuff that's healing if you want to get rid of mucky scabs esp mud fever.

We sell Wound Powder in the shop and it is still a really good seller. I sold my horse a year ago but i always kept some in my First Aid Kit, although i also kept a tub of sudocrem, different wounds need different treatments.

fraid i disagree. i think it only sells because people know no better. it certainly was never mentioned as a good treatment at uni and we never ever use it in small animals and horse wounds aren't any different. it used to be thought that wound powder dried wounds up and healed them quicker - i had some in my first aid kit at that time, but modern research shows that wounds heal much quicker when kept moist. of all the posts above, not one person has mentioned powder - everyone uses the wound hydrogels now - they're far superior.

I really like the 'cut heal' range and the gel is exellent.
It cleans, seals and protects . There is also a powder in the range that i also find good. [even if they are from the dark ages!!]
