What's the best fancy dress you've seen at a show?

I went to a show this summer and saw the best fancy dress I have ever seen on a pony. The whole pony was dressed as Dumbo the elephant- HUGE ears with trunk (the works!) You couldn't see any section of the pony because he so totally covered by Dumbo costume :D I couldn't believe the pony would even wear this stuff let alone being so laid back with it. He was a late entry and needless to say the other contestants' hearts sank when they saw him enter the ring. I wish I had taken a picture but alas where is the camera when you need it ?! :rolleyes:
 
My petite blond friend dressed as Madonna and dressed her black pony up as Ali G, complete with yellow tracksuit, medalion and a sign saying 'Is it because I is black?'. That made me laugh! An elephant is a great idea though!
 
This could be pot and kettle as I am the person who dyed a grey pony green to be my son's ninja turtle but isn't that website a little OTT?

I had to laugh at the pic of the bull costume as it looks as though the 'bull' had impaled the grey horse on its horn!

But this is from USA where I could go and buy fancy dress costumes for all my ferrets.........
 
I dressed my horse up as a fighter plane, he had a 6 foot wingspan, and a tail fin. I wore a brown flying jacket and a wired scarf plus made my helmet into a flying helmet with earflaps and goggles, my dog was my front gunner, sat in front of me on the saddle with a flying jacket, hat and goggles as well as a wired scarf. My horse had a gun attched to his head piece, wheels on his brushing boots and I painted a mascot on his chest and roundels on his bum. Needless to say - we won!!
 
I went to a show near Duffield in Derbyshire the weekend before last and there were a few phenomenal fancy dress entries - notably the rider dressed as a needle and pony as a haystack and girl and pony painted blue with all the handmade trimmings as characters from Avatar! :)
 
OMG!! I can't believe people dye and paint ponies (or kids for that matter!!)

Interesting idea re the plane - my son was talking about doing that recently. Thankfully he's now 12, so can do it himself!

Anyone got any halloween ideas for pony costumes please?

I did a WW11 biplane when I was a kid complete with biplane wings, propellor and biggles outfit... again we won..

My fave of all time tho (And I have never not come first in a fancy dress comp) was Thomas the tank engine ridden by the fat controller... ME!

we had a lovely milkmaid and cow at one of our shows. The cow was a coloured pony with a blown up pink rubber glove attached to his sheath - looked the part! How some of these ponies tolerate being done up in these costumes I don't know! Due to the number of incidents involving little darlings being bucked off/carted due to ponies being sppoked by their costumes we don't run a fancy dress class any more, which is a shame.
