Ive had some suggestions on what to feed my foal but id like to hear your views?
what would you say was the best brand? and what were the pros to using it?
thankyou

I used top spec stud balancer for protein, vitamins and minerals and then micronised linseed for calories. Ensures they get everything without overloading the starchs etc.

How much budget to is it?

A bag of balancer costs about £25-30 and lasts about 1 month. The linseed is about £20 for a sack which I went through 2 sacs in a whole winter

Following, with interest....

I would have normally recommended D&H Suregrow and good quality ad-lib forage.
This year, I started off with Suregrow and my native weanling started to get a dull, scurfy coat. Had a word with Mel at Progressive Earth, about feeding Pro Hoof to weanlings/yearlings, as I have such good results with my adult horses.
Had a complete rethink and slowly stopped the Suregrow and started to introduce Pro Hoof, beet and Micronised Linseed. He looks fantastic, his coat is gleaming, an incredible mane/tail and has strong healthy hooves.

My 2 new native weanlings, which will be coming to me in November, will be put on the same diet. I am also considering adding a small amount of Equi Jewel at the beginning of next year, for show prep.

Would be interested to hear what others feed their weanlings for show prep.

I fed my last two youngsters on Baileys Stud Balancer, grass nuts, linseed and handful of just grass chaff. They both did excellent showing affiliated and had gleaming coats.

I feed my older ones fast fibre, pro balancer, linseed and a handful of high fibre nuts.

I might re think also and see if the Pro Balancer would be suitable for a new weanling we are getting.
