A friend has asked for one for Xmas present - plus a fly rug (which I've already got). Looking for a good quality, good fitting fly mask if anyone can help. Also what do you think about getting one with the detachable nose cover thingy bit? Are they any use at all? (cant see they can do much myself!) Thanks!

I like the Shires ones, both mine have them and they are quite tough, both have ears which is handy and my youngster has the nose peice on his, it's a bit long for him but he doesn't seem bothered by it!

Love the Horseware ones - really good quality for the money. What I like most is that the net itself is soft but firm and keeps off their eyes and the edges are all fleece so doesn't rub at all. Here is Jo modelling his last summer together with his Mark Todd Combo Fly rug!

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone tried the Cashel Crusader ones? They look quite smart, but I've not seen them in real life as it were

I bought Premier Equine ones this summer - not had any problems.

I like them to come down and cover their noses as some of mine have very fine skin and get sunburnt so this helps to protect them.

My TB got burnt almost half way up his white stripe on his face as he is so sensitive (and that was with factor 50 on!) before I bought him a new mask.

Another vote for Cashel. :)

Fit well as they have lots of sizes, don't rub, you can get them with/without ear covers and with/without nose covers.

I like the Chashel ones too, one thing to bear in mind, does the horse have a thick forelock, as I found in some of the ones ive tried, is that if they dont have a hole to pull it through, then the forelock ends up getting pushed in the horses eyes...

oh, I liked the shires ones as well...

I've got the buccas one with the ears but to be honest my poor boy gets flies covering his nose so he could definately do with the nose piece too!!

I think the Field Relief and Cashel ones are the best.

Had a few horses with pink noses that have not suffered from sunburn as much with the field relief with nose piece.
