I am selling a pony because he's proven to be too forward going for my young and only occasionally interested son. I personally think he would be better suited to a pc home but having not had any experience of the PC, im not sure what is expected of one.
Hes a really cool little pony, 8yr old, forward going but with that not naughty or does anything dirty, hes sensitive to the leg and rein. He's been ridden lightly since November by a fairly novicy child but he seems to be getting frustrated being on the lead rein and just really wants to be able to have a bit of a canter and pop a course of jumps (IMO) he can also motor when he wants so so i assume he would be good against the clock, lovely little paces only problem he is only 12hh, so finding a small child competant enough has been a bit of a chore.
Im not entirely sure how to market him and dont know what sort of customer to aim for, he's certainly not a 1st pony but cant see why he wouldnt suit a family of children, what sort of market do you think i should aim for and any tips on how to advertise him and where to do so apart from H&H OF COURSE!!!

I've been in the Pony Club for 5 years and I think your pony sounds like a good PC pony. He seems to have all the qualities required of a PC pony.

When you advertise maybe suggest he could be used for mounted games. Make sure you see the potential buyer ride him in a number of situations to ensure that he will not be too much of a handfull for them.

You could advertise him on the Pony Club website. He sounds like a great pony and there are lots of good riders, especially in PC, that could give him a perfect home.

Hope this helps.

It really does thankyou, i had already saved an ad on there website ready to put on but wondered if i was being a bit presumptuous assuming he would be suitable, so i think ill go sort that now thanks.
The home is more important to me than anything he will be sadly missed however he really is wasted with me and i have seen the standard of children that the pony club turns out, i just hope i can get him some interest. Thanks again.

How does the pony behave when ridden in a group situation? One of the important features of a Pony Club pony is that it should be reasonably well-behaved in a group - some ponies are great out showjumping, for example, but go loopy when asked to do a Pony Club rally! The pony has to do rallies to be eligible for teams, so a pony that can't cope with working in a group is not ideal for PC!

When advertising your pony, ensure you get some good photos. Ideally you want to show it jumping a small fence - a spread with fillers usually looks more impressive than a single pole. If he has nice paces you could also add a photo of him trotting side on so that they are shown to full advantages.

I honestly cant answer that question TGM, much to my frustration, and i appreciate thats definately something that needs considering but i have no way of finding out as i dont have a jockey to try him for me. Which is why i felt i needed to ask the question. Thanks for the picture advice ive also been looking at the PC website and got some great ideas, thanks again.
