Looking to buy this bit and have found these stockists but bits are slightly different. Which do you think is the better one? To use on TB/X mouth, need size 5 1/2. Mouthpeice looks slightly thicker.

Sold by shop4bits but only a 5.75 in stock

Sold by Cotswoldsport, they have a 5 1/2 in stock but don't do a try before you buy service..

Help me decide please?

Why even consider the shop4bits one if they don't have your size? I have had bits from CotswoldSport and am very happy with the quality of them.

I've emailed asking if due in stock soon, as I think it is a slightly better bit, however the mouth piece looks slightly thinner in the Cotswoldsports one, so will likely go for it.

I would use that sort of bit with rubber bit guards anyway, would that make the difference between the 5.75 bit fitting and being too big. Debatable actually as even S (and you know how large she is) only takes a 5.5cm bit.

Have you tried a waterford fulmer - can lend you one if needed. It is S's hunting bit and works well. Could lend a rubber jointed cheltenham gag, a mullen mouth pelham or a jointed american gag (B's hunting bits) if you would like to try any of them.

Let me know.

There is a difference. The top one is a Jeffries centre revolver bit. The lozenge moves idependantly on each side. The CS one has a shorter lozenge.
Depends what you want it for. The top one I suspect will give a more refined feel.
