I am just wondering whats the smallest sized horse/pony I could get away with riding?

I love wee pony's, but I don't know if I look stupid on them? I'm contemplating on getting a 14.2 in the future, or breeding my mare to get a smaller pony
I am 8st 2lb and somwhere between 5ft 7 or 8in

Here is me on my 15.1hh

Sorry about the quality.

And here is me on a 14hh ish cob

Excuse what I am doing with my feet, I must have double jointed ankles or something

Thanks, Emma x

I think if you get something like a d you could possibly go a little smaller as long as it is a good stamp and has plenty of girth to take up your leg - for eg A lad at our yard is over 6' but really slim and can easily ride my 15.1 sec d without looking silly infact he looks better on that than he does a 16.2 t/b

Well to honest you don't look any different on either...under 14.2's come in different shapes, due to breed and confirmation as you know...plus even a saddle can be the makings of 'looking' ok and so sometimes you 'look' better on something smaller and more compact...others look better on something bigger, but you have to consider if your either bothered about what you look like or weather you are ok weight wise etc...but I don't think you have to worry about anything there, there's nothing on you lol!

I'm 5'9 and 9 stone or there abouts yet I used to look better on my 14.1 than I did on my other 16.1...but weight wise I was fine with either, I have quite a long thigh but a shorter calf, you rally can go into it all far too much lol, my dad thinks look to big for Mackenzie but I just tell him to shut up!

If you enjoy riding ponies...then get yourself one!

Thanks Taffster, My girl is 1/2 Welsh, and I was contemplating breeding her with a D (maybe even a C, but I can't remeber if they can reach 13.2) so would definately be substantial.
I do prefer chunkier breeds too, esp. when their smaller.

You are absolutely fine on both photos. A lot of people overhorse themselves these days. You have the benefit of being nice and light so as long as you do not feel underhorsed you are fine.

I am 5ft 5'', 10 stone adult and have a 14.2hh welsh sec D and a 14.2 irish sports pony (who is nearer 15hh but measured in for junior bsja!). Perfect height for our hilly hunting hunting country and cost less to feed than bigger horses - pony power!
